Rev Gilmour goes to Parliament

Rev Alexa Gilmour, who has been pastoring Saint Luke’s United Church for the past six months, has been elected as a provincial MPP.

It was therefore with mixed feelings that a send-forth was held for her on Sunday.

Even before coming to St. Luke’s, Rev. Gilmour had been an activist, social entrepreneur, public speaker, community worker, trusted community leader, and change-maker.

With her, vulnerable people like refugees, migrants, the homeless, the physically challenged, and others found hope. She actively fought for their comfort in society.

She founded Contagious Hope Network as an outcome of ministry, community engagement, advocacy, and program development. She also founded Stone Soup Network to help families whose children have been involved in the juvenile justice system. She’s also a co-chair of “Crisis in Our Society
