We won’t need fireworks;
With various wars;
Every day getting worse;
In our crazy wild world:
Year approaching embers;
Climaxing last second December;
If we’re lucky;
We’ll get turkey:
Otherwise;
We’ll be war-weary!
Conflicts –
here
there
near, and
hither:
Farms are vandalized;
Homes are ravaged:
People out to refugeedom –
When not sent into martyrdom –
Into lands where they might get freedom:
In those lands;
Wars, wars and wars
make accommodation scarce
food too is insufficient:
Our world’s so poor;
In peaceful conflict management:
Almost every conflict;
Degenerates into war:
We hardly discuss;
Okay…sorry!
we do,
with bazookas and air raids;
and ultimate fear of nukes
with threat of Armageddon:
Conference tables are broken;
We are tone-deaf
We can’t hear the harmonious symphony of peace;
We have willingly decided to enjoy;
A deathly monotony –
the rat-a-tat music of guns:
If this continues;
We certainly wouldn’t need
Fireworks at Christmas:
Our kids have been militarized
While being fed a taste of the action
On our battlefields!
