I had wanted to post something on how and why I think Canada is fast replacing the US as the land of opportunities before I attended an event yesterday.
The event which continues today is the ‘Faire Nationale de L’Eemploi’ which is being held at Place Bonaventure in the city of Montreal. Taking place alongside the event is the Education Fair.
As those who are illiterates in French, like me, might have guessed, it’s all about employment.
Yeah, an employment fair!
As against the projection of the organisers that there would be four hundred and fifty exhibitors at the fair, there are a lot more. And I should commend the organisers and exhibitors for being conscious of time.
At the fair itself, I felt I would just have been an attendee since I don’t speak French. But to my surprise, at the very first stand I visited, when one of the people in charge greeted me with the usual ‘Bonjour’ and I replied, before she continued the greeting, I told her I am an English speaking gentleman, as if it’s my mother-tongue. It was my delight when she said she spoke some English.
Not to prolong the issue, I got a job offer there on the spot. Indeed, I ended up getting up to five job offers. And what’s more, if I’m prepared to relocate, they could be more.
Who am I to say I won’t relocate?
Ani k’owo ti wo’le!
I’m fervently praying that God would heal Nigeria and return her to prosperity. At least, not so long ago, companies were going to the universities to recruit graduates in Nigeria!
But then, we the common people, have a lot of work to do on ourselves!!
When we work on ourselves, we can then work on our nation, Nigeria!!!
