I love artistes. The number one reason I love them for is because they can interpret even the most obvious things in a complex manner. I would rather believe in an artiste than a preacher.
This is more so in a Nigeria where so many so-called men of God exist. Their religiosity has not saved us from bad governance. Indeed, most of them are leeches who are feasting on our helpless situation.
So many hues and cries have been raised about the headless image that is adorning Allen Avenue round about in Ikeja, Lagos. The dressing of the image is believed to be like that of the Afro Beat maestro, Fela.
Fela did not just play music. He used music as an instrument of emancipation of the African person. As far as Fela was concerned military rule was a no no! Not only that, even corrupt civilian governments were not acceptable to Fela!
Unfortunately, most of the ills Fela sang against are still penchant problems in our society. Could it be due to our stars?
Personally, I believe God has done his own bit. He has given us the best of weathers, so did he give us a very good soil and to cap it all he has given us an uncountable number of mineral resources. What’s more, there is no state in this nation that doesn’t have at least, one mineral resource or the other.
If we all agree that the brain coordinates all the activities of our bodies, and we further agree that our brains are situated in our heads, then we should all realise that the headless image is a great challenge to us, both individually and corporately.
The headless image is telling us that we hardly need heads since we are not using our brains.
Abi I lie?
