Mallam Umaru Abdulrahman Dikko (1936 – 2014) was an adviser to Shehu Shagari, Nigeria’s second Republic President. He was also the minister of transportation between1979 and 1983.
He made some prophetic statements some of which had come and are still coming to light.
When MKO was striving for the presidency, he was quoted to have said, ‘The presidency is not for sale to the highest bidder.’
The one that is most profound is when Nigerians were facing scarcity of essential resources during the second republic, Dikko claimed he wasn’t aware of that, because “Nigerians were not eating from the dustbin’.
Dikko must be smiling in satisfaction now. This is because Nigerians can’t even get food from the dustbin. It’s only people who are satiated that can throw the remnants away!
