Order! – Adewale Sobowale

That a cop was dead drunk on duty in the state of aquatic splendor is no longer news. An inspector for that matter.

And yeah, he got what he deserved. In these days of job seekers being more than the employed, a person will now be playing with his work. It was good riddance to bad rubbish.

I presume some medical examination must have been carried out on him and it would have been discovered he had no problems. He only had excess money which he felt must be spent.

It wouldn’t have mattered if he was on duty or not!

The police commissioner was subsequently directed by the inspector general, who is presumably an SU, therefore used that as an excuse to close down all beer drinking joints in police stations.

That’s another good idea, ain’t it?

The fact that the singular action of closing down beer parlours in police barracks, without notice and not minding the economic impacts, is a very good step.

I mean the owners of those beer drinking joints and the workers as well, have made so much money that even if they don’t work again, they won’t ever lack.

What about the social impacts? Banning beer drinking joints doesn’t imply preventing policemen from drinking alcoholic drinks in the comfort of their homes in the barracks. Neither does it mean preventing them from having their drinks outside the barracks.

So, where does that leave us?

I would rather studies are commissioned to investigate human activities before conclusions are reached.

I believe the fact that Lagos State was singled out for ban on beer joints is a decision made off the cuff, unfair and discriminatory!!!
