May fool? – Adewale Sobowale

The news was agog yesterday about a court in the UK’s sentencing a Nigerian senator who, with his wife, was found guilty of organ harvesting.

Knowing how the British love their holidays, and yesterday being Labour Day, were the courts in session yesterday?

I googled it, and the answer is, “There are no court sittings.”

I checked various sources of news, even the BBC, and there is nothing about the reported imprisonment.

But then, that’s not even the crux of the matter.

The major thing we should be concerned about is the fact that the case has highlighted our poverty in all ways.

Health services, road networks, employment, production, and so on and so on!

So, what are the politicians doing in Abuja and in the various state capitals or local government headquarters?

Several opinions have been expressed. Well, I’ve always agreed with the school of thought that says “a people deserves its ruling class.”
