I learn today is International Men’s Day!
Hmm…
Oro sunukun!
It’s a day men’s contributions to a peaceful society ought to have been celebrated.
But, are men – especially African men – worth celebrating? I’m asking this pertinent question considering the fact that it seems to me that African nations are in a permanent position of misrule.
Apart from the fact that most of the rulers are men, the fact remains that most of those who put them in place are men.
From what I’m seeing on ground, there’s no likelihood that there would be a change in the nearest future.
What sort of young men are we breeding?
Drug addicts, kidnappers, 419ers, armed robbers, political thugs. One could go on and on.
One must not forget the few that are being upright!
But then, are the so-called leaders mentoring those who will take over from them?
What are they going to take over, anyway?
Is it corruption or mismanagement?
I think men should use the opportunity of today being the international men’s day to do some real thinking about restrategizing so that ALL WILL BE WELL!
