What brought me here in the first instance? A place where people’s healthcare is taken care of so much that they’ll be thinking heaven couldn’t be better.
Anyway, we need to know whether people do fall sick in heaven!
Even the hospitals here, sat on their ówn jejelly like Lagosians. I went on my way to draw the first blood. I never knew what took me to the hospital.
By the way, in this place, what they call ambulance service is enough to equip an hospital where I come from.
Whenever an occasion arises to call an ambulance, they come highly prepared to save a life. I can’t just describe it.
People around too are so much willing to help a dying person back to life. In my country, instead of helping the person, they’ll be busy taking photographs with their phone cameras as if they were having a competition.
Anyway, the bitter truth is that for more than a month now, wait for this.
I have not tasted beer!
Is that hearable or even bearable? Oh, well I went to the hospital and I received treatment. When i say treatment, I mean comprehensive treatment.
I didn’t even know what the doctor prescribed. I never checked the drugs that were given to me at the pharmacy too.
But when I got home, something told me to check the inscriptions on the drugs.
And there it was!
‘Not to be taken with alcohol’.
Won ti get me!
Me? No beering?
I read and reread again, as if to make the inscription disappear! Oh well,
Ko nde bani ka yeri!
I then started meditating over the different places in which I’ve taken beer.
E full ground!
Kaduna, Kano, Ilorin, Ile Ife, Ibadan, Osogbo, Itire, Ebute Meta, Ado Odo, Ajangbadi, Abeokuta, Ifo, Ota, Alabama, Montreal, etc! The drugs have put an end to all that!
Yes, I did try o!
Maybe when next I go to see him, I’ll ask if I could be taking some wine. If I had been in my native land, i would have been taking some overdoses of ‘agbo jedi’ in alcoholic drinks.
Well before I resign myself to fate, I just wanted you to know that I’ve become an unwilling teetotaller.
