I understand the labor leaders in Nigeria have settled for a minimum wage of seventy thousand naira, which is barely above $40. A 50kg bag of rice is sold for around that amount. That is to say, Mr Tinubu has graciously given labor a bag of rice!
Shall we shout seventy gbosas for all the parties involved?
Can you imagine the relief of the mass of organized labor at this magic their leaders have done?
At least after consuming the rice, workers can pay their rent, fuel their cars, pay their children’s school fees, and even afford to drink some Tombo, and do some owanbe.
Will they have anything remaining for the pastors to collect first fruit, tithes, donations, and so on?
That’s why I love Nigerians; they will always endure. May we not endure suffering. But Nigerians have learnt not only to endure but to enjoy suffering.
Meanwhile, the members of the House of Representatives have graciously cut their salaries by half due to the country’s poor economic situation.
God bless them!
But then, they hardly touched their salaries. What they ought to have done was reduce all the monetary benefits accruing to them.
But who born them?
A beg make them no call dog monkey for us!
We are looking forward to the day when all the political appointees will reduce their financial load on the country. More importantly, we are looking forward to the establishment of farm estates, the revitalization of moribund industries, the establishment of a genuine scholarship scheme for students, the naira’s parity with the dollar, and so on!
Until then, we shall all be hailing and hurling a bag of rice!
