There are some whom you think should live forever. Pa Jacob Oladele Olaniyi was one of such people.
A veteran broadcaster, viewers of Ogun Television will still remember him anchoring ‘Kaaro o jiire’ a Yoruba programme. Then, he was the people’s journalist, because he would insist on his guest’s disclosure of some vital information.
Of course, this might not have gone down well with the powers that be.
I equally knew him as an elder member of the ‘Parliament’, a club of like minds based in Oke Ilewo, Abeokuta. When the club is in session, various debates arise. In his lifetime Pa Olaniyi participated eminently in these debates.
We did not expect anything less from him, an experienced journalist.
I also attended the same church with him. As a seasoned journalist, he used his profession to serve his God.
He also served as the chairman of Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria. In fact, he was current chairman before his death.
He lived a fulfilled life.
Our prayer is that God should grant his gentle soul eternal rest!
