It was on this day in 1998 that the man in most of us died.
Yes, I say most of us because we know some people were ready, even before that day, to defend what remained of our democracy with their very blood.
But most of us were instead of defending our democracy asking what else Abiola wanted. After all, he was reputed to be arguably the richest person in Nigeria.
For some, instead of defending fairness, it was vendetta.
Many of us, instead of going out to fight for our democracy and freedom from the invasive military, were busy in the ozza room.
And here we are, can we proudly say life is better for the common man? Can we say our basic utilities are in order now? I could go on and on…
A people will always deserve its ruling class!
