The World Cup which is the greatest sporting event starts today!
But the event will remain tainted by the blood of migrant workers who were contracted to help in building facilities for the event.
Migrant workers were abused in so many ways.
Also, the Qatari government has imposed the Shariah law on all those going to the Islamic country for the event. Unmarried couples are not to stay in the same rooms.
There must also be no partying. FIFA has instructed people to respect the country’s laws.
But should the event have been hosted by Qatar at all?
If a country fails to respect the fundamental human rights of people, I don’t think any respectable body should support it.
But then, not FIFA!
I understand the hosting right of the event was given to Qatar under controversial circumstances bordering on corruption!
FIFA has to prove beyond reasonable doubts that it’s officials were not bribed!
