I learn today is Father’s Day!
We should clink our glasses and praise ourselves like the lizard that just fell from an iroko tree and said if no one praises him, he would praise himself.
We should then thank God for little mercies and for more undeserved blessings.
Are we not in our patriarchal world, oppressing and demeaning humanity?
How many men are in positions of authority globally – as heads of government, heads of department, heads of the armed forces, etc?
So, how far have we handled our respective positions? I’m sure we have done well, haven’t we?
That’s why our world is so peaceful, isn’t it?
Whether you agree with me or not, most of us have failed in shaping our world for the better. But I’m more concerned with our boy-children.
What legacies are we leaving for them?
Wars, conflicts, physically absent fatherhood, emotional unavailability, uninvolvement in raising children, lack of conscience, dismissive attitude, unpatriotism, and what’s more!
Let’s pop the champagne to our unmanned fathers!
