Tosin Adeoti about an hour ago asked on another post what I still consider a pertinent question even though it can be somewhat pesky : “How readable is Soyinka’s book?”
Amede Isaac, a Soyinka’s Disciple like my humble self understandably took umbrage and more or less ‘lashed out’ at Mr. Tosin, perhaps he(Mr. Amede) is already tired of people who keep casting aspersions on Professor Wole Soyinka’s writing.😅🤣

How readable is Soyinka’s book? Very readable.
Wole Soyinka doesn’t just write for the sake of it, he is writing to make you think, to immerse yourself in his works and come out of it way better than you went in.
Admittedly, it can truly be tedious reading the great Sage, it is largely why I always advice you deploy patience as much as I always tell anyone who cares to listen to dump any book that doesn’t fascinate them.

Who else can turn an inferno to a living creature like Professor Wole Soyinka? Anyone? I dare you to name at least one person. You have to be a Bibliophile to remotely try.😆 In one of his memoirs titled Ibadan especially, the Chapter titled Frogs, Toads and the Facts of Life will sweep you off your feet and keep you enthralled.

Aké is breezy and a riveting read.

Tension between Tradition and Modernity is explored in a supremely humourous way in The Interpreters. I particularly love the use of Nigerian Pidgin in some parts.

Chronicles from the land of the happiest people on earth provides a ‘fictionalized’ reality of the continuous state of affairs in Nigeria, a must read.

Conclusively, I could go on and on but I don’t want this post to be longer than it already is. Is Soyinka’s book readable? Again, YES is the answer.
Reading Professor Wole Soyinka is like a masterful lover making love to his woman or man. Intense foreplay before penetration. Also, it’s like savouring the sweet taste of a vintage Italian wine. Is Soyinka’s book readable? For the last time I say YES. Pay no mind to people who bleat about how difficult it is to read him for many of them have not read a quarter of his works. They didn’t read beyond The Lion and The Jewel and Trials of Brother Jero. Reading Professor Wole Soyinka is like a voyage through time, a completely rewarding venture I tell you.🍷😘
