There’re gentlemen and there’re gentlemen!
There’s one who labels himself a gentleman but his behavior doesn’t portray him as such. He was governor in a southwestern state of Nigeria. He owed civil servants salaries. He created enmity in the educational sector. His so-called opon imo (computer), if faithfully prosecuted could have been useful in these COVID days.
But there’s one Ogbeni that people would use to pray for other aspiring Ogbenis. He’s like a brother to me. Being an only child, I always hesitate to call anyone my brother.
We came all the way from Abeokuta. Abeegi precisely. He came here before me.
I’m not normally an outgoing person. At least, as far as this place is concerned. I would rather buy my ‘pure water’ and be observing happenings in the world through my lappy.
But this guy has succeeded in pulling me out of my cocoon on a number of occasions. He even organized some party to which I was invited. But I couldn’t go.
The guy is so humble. He’s so helpful. He’s about the only one who calls me ‘Buoda’ here. He’s a true Egbaman in terms of hospitality.
Ogbeni Segun is fantastic!
