AMÚKÛN…K–LEGGED… – Adewale Sobowale

I know better than criticizing anyone’s physical appearance.

But the Yorùbá have a saying, “amúkûn ẹrù ẹ́ wọ́” and he responds, “òkè lẹ̀ ǹwó ẹ wò sàlẹ̀”.

It means, some person calling the k–legged man that whatever he’s carrying is not balanced and he replies that the caller should look at his legs.

In the case of Nigeria, can we say, with all certainty, that we deserve good governance?

My bible says we can’t continue in sin and be asking for the grace to increase.

Have we settled our homes? Are we good parents? Are we good children?

I’ve always said that we can’t have good leaders if we don’t have good citizens. Political scientists always say, “A people deserves its ruling elite.”

I really don’t need to mention those incidents that have become viral on social media. I guess for every one that becomes viral, there will be two others we don’t know about.

We need to go back to the basics!
