When we look at the world, we wouldn’t have any choice but to agree with the Yoruba who have concluded that, ‘ogun l’aye’.
The world is a battle front!
It’s therefore a surprise when people vent their anger arising from various types of frustration on others. The interesting thing is the fact that the person to whom the aggression is being transferred, in most cases, is also frustrated.
That’s probably why people who you do not expect to, do engage in fisticuffs. After the fight, they may then realise that what they were fighting for could have been settled amicably!
If you’re used to the streets, you may not see any reason in people fighting over the basic things. But they must let their frustrations out one way or the other.
People will fight for potable water, where it’s available. People will struggle to enter buses and when they enter, they will fight over seating spaces.
It’s not by any means restricted to the lower classes. Could you believe one of the basic problems afflicting developing nations is the struggle for power? Here it’s a mixed grill as even the most unqualified of candidates will contest since he has a godfather.
But you see, if we can take time to remember that we brought nothing to this world and we will, certainly, take nothing from it, may be our brains will go through a resetting process.
That’s why the best places to visit will remain the morgue and the cemetery!
