It’s reported in today’s papers that an APC member went to court to set aside the constitutional provision limiting the tenure of the Nigerian president to two. He’s said to be asking the courts for a tenure elongation.
While I concede that everyone has the right to go to the courts, I also believe everyone has the right to have the ambition to occupy the number one position in the country.
The guy who went to court has an inferiority complex. He feels it could not be him or anyone from his family.
I don’t think anyone in his proper sense would be so foolish as to seek tenure for this non-achieving government. Even if achieved, it would still have been a stupid idea and a waste of time for a government to spend more than the two terms allowed.
There’s something called the law of diminishing returns in Economics. However, the fact remains that this is about the worst government Nigeria has ever had in terms of performance.
Even the googled Abacha’s government was much better than this kleptocracy.
It’s not in my position to preempt the courts’ decision!
