B’OMODE O J’OBI II! – Adewale Sobowale

These are really trying times for Nigerian pastors. I didn’t type men of God because only God knows who His men are. But I know for certain it won’t be only men in cassocks and surplices.

No wonder, many of them have even been raining curses on those who fail to pay their tithes and offerings.

But may I ask where the humanemess of these pastors are!

I should ask the question because there’s no doubt about the fact that many of the church goers are just incapable of feeding their own families. Of course, the siege of COVID 19 is taking its toll.

If the Yoruba, with their love of children, could say, if a fire afflicts one and their child, one would obviously look after themselves first, let the pastors curse as much as they can.

Owo ti o si, jedi jedi o le gba. Even the simplest of problems may not remove a dime from a poverty-stricken man simply because it’s not there.

I’m pleading with the pastors to kindly give their laity a respite. The time they are wasting while cursing their members could be better used.

As the Psalmist says in Psalm 122:6, ‘Pray for the peace of Jerusalem. May all those who love this city prosper.’

Indeed, ‘B’omode o j’obi, agba o j’oye!’
