Being fair to history! – Adewale Sobowale

I understand the National Center for Women’s Development has been named after Mariam Babangida.

I guess that’s a very laudable gesture. After all, the lady, apart from being the first celebrated and fashion conscious first lady of Nigeria introduced the Better Life Programme for Rural Women.

With Mrs Tinubu’s launching of her pet project – the Renewed Hope Initiative – it’s like copycatting Mariam’s Better Life.

I would have thought the best thing would have been to give the center to the Babangidas!

If an apple doesn’t fall far away from the tree, methinks Nigerians should be expecting more turbulent days ahead.

That’s because I can smell another Babangida in the BATtering of the Nigerian economy by the present regime. And if it’s true that some couples look alike after living together for so long, that might be another signal.

Come to think of it, is it fair to the generality of Nigerians that the spouse of a civilian general in the June 12, 1993 struggle now finds it necessary to beatify the spouse of the man who sent the country back by sọ many decades?

In any case, was she using her own money for her pet projects?

Tougher times are coming!
