That Russia has attacked Ukraine is no longer news.

Most leaders of true democratic governments all over the world have been busy condemning the unprovoked and needless attack on another democratic nation.

Please note the word, ‘most’.

Most, except African countries. According to a report, only 3 African countries have deemed it fit to condemn the unfortunate development.

The countries are Ghana, Kenya and Gabon!

So, where does Nigeria stand?

It makes me remember the struggle for South African freedom. Nigeria was so involved then that it was regarded as one of the front line countries.

The front line countries then were Tanzania, Zambia, Angola, Mozambique and Botswana. Nigeria, because of its revolutionary activities towards South African countries’ freedom became the sixth.

Then General Obasanjo was head of state, Brigadier Garba was External Affairs Commissioner and Professor Akinyemi was Director General of Nigeria Institute of International Affairs.

Then, It was said that when Nigeria coughed, the rest of the world would be quiet waiting for my dear country’s next revolutionary action.

Oh, may the good times come back to Nigeria!

Maybe it’s when we come back to our normal position in the world, I’ll start to understand!!
