The Lagos state government is reportedly sponsoring the feeding of about 30, 000 people. This is in association with some partnering organizations.
This is a good step. I learn it will last for the first ten days of the year. What are the cost implications?
If it’s not from the governor’s pocket, I beg to submit the governor is mis-applying public funds. As for the private organizations, they could spend their funds in a better way. But then, I realize they have the freedom to spend their funds the way they deem fit.
May I ask the governor what these people will eat for the remaining days of the year?
Wouldn’t it have been better for the state to use its resources, in collaboration with the partnering agencies, to create jobs for the people.
A meaningful social security system will definitely not be out of place.
Lagos is strategically placed to teach people how to fish instead of giving them fish!
