Canadian Prime Minister has survived another parliamentary confidence vote, the second in less than a week.
Reuters reports that the opposition parties have vowed to keep his Liberal government alive.
In the House of Commons, Lawmakers voted 207-121 to defeat the official opposition Conservative Party’s bid to topple Trudeau. After almost nine years in power, he is facing increasing voter fatigue.
The Conservatives have a big lead in the polls ahead of an election that must be held by October 2025. They say Canadians can not afford a planned increase in the federal carbon tax and accuse Trudeau of presiding over high prices and rising crime.
However, to trigger an election, they need the approval of every opposition legislator. But the separatist Bloc Quebecois said last week that it would back Trideau until at least the end of this month in return for boosting seniors’ pensions.
Mr Trudeau also has the support of the New Democratic Party.
