I greet everybody, particularly my muslim brothers and sisters, on this celebration of another eid el kabir. May we be able to learn its lessons!
For those who did not know, it is a celebration of self sacrifice. The prophet Ibrahim apparently saw a vision in which God told him to sacrifice his only son, Ishmael, to Him. Ibrahim did not question God. Ishmael, on his own part, obeyed his father, even at the point of imminent death.
It turned out to be an all time test of faith. God miraculously provided a ram for the sacrifice instead of Ishmael.
It brings us to the CCB/CCT and Saraki issue.
By the way, rumours have it that while Saraki was in court yesterday, his ram donations to the people of Ilorin, Kwara state were being distributed. The practice started with his illustrious father, Baba Oloye Abubakar Olusola Saraki.
I think I should congratulate the Ilorin people especially. I choose to do so because if Saraki had been remanded in custody, their Eid largesse which I can see him giving out today could have been suspended.
Back to the human sacrifice angle.
If a sin allegedly committed as far back as 2003 could be revisited, what stops us from even going to the beginning of this particular democratic experience. I mean we should probe all the elected officials from 1999 till date.
On his own, Saraki would have served as the sacrifice Nigeria requires to clean her Augean stables!!!
