When we lie down exhausted in the false security of our homes, some people are out there patrolling our streets. To them, it doesn’t matter what the weather situation is like, they have a duty.
Their duty is the security of our persons, homes and properties from bandits.
For them, life may not come easy.
How can it be easy?
Do we really care for them?
Even to pay for their service is a problem. We appreciate the fact that government says the economy is in recession. But did you know that’s a good reason for men of the underworld to invade our homes and business places?
And that’s why we should be sparing a thought for those who make it their jobs to secure our environments.
Apart from their emoluments which they have earned in a difficult way, they deserve our prayers.
And much more!
Have we ever taken it upon ourselves to move out of our comfort zones and see the lives being led by these people? Where are they living? Do they have wives? Which schools do their children attend? Are they happy?
Do we go out of our ways to make their work better? What materials are provided for them? Given the nature of their jobs, do they have any insurance policy taken out for them?
OK, Omolomo lo se ran nise de t’oru t’oru, it’s only other people that are conveniently sent on impossible missions.
My mind, definitely, is on the security of those who guard us when we are snoring!
But then, the ultimate security is from God!!
