Human smugglers ram police car in Malaysia!

Police fired five shots at the tyres of a vehicle packed with undocumented migrants during a car chase in Malaysia on Friday.

Malay Mail reports that the dawn incident happened when a General Operations Force (GOF) team from the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Struggling of Migrants (ATIPSOM) Task Force and the Pulau Carey post launched an operation in the area.

Kuala Langat district police chief Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzi said officers had stopped two vehicles that were believed to be ferrying Bangladeshi nationals without valid documents.

However, the 4X4 driver suddenly reversed at high speed and rammed into a police vehicle and hit another vehicle belonging to an officer, according to Radzi.

Another vehicle of the alleged people smugglers, a Toyota Fortner, also rammed into the GOF vehicle. It prompted two officers to open fire and discharged five rounds at the tear tyres to stop the escape.

The 4X4 driver sped off against traffic, while the Toyota Fortuner broke through the toll plaza and headed towards the SKVE highway. Police later found the Toyota Fortuner abandoned  by the roadside with is doors left open and no one inside, according to the senior officer.

N contraband was found, and no injuries were reported in the incident.
