A refugee in New Zealand has had her apartment broken into by a neighbor.
RNZ reports that the burglar proceeded to sell almost everything of the little she had in her Auckland home.
Among the items stolen were her late father’s watch, a treasured memento of his, and one of the few possessions she owned. According to a report, the woman moved away after the incident.
The alleged burglar, Neil Thomas Gascoigne, broke a window to gain entry into the apartment. He then removed and sold almost all the unit’s contents.
While the reparation sum is $11,520, Gascoigne does not have a means of paying it.
