Bangladesh recovers bodies of Rohingya refugees!

The bodies of thirty-four Rohingya refugees who had fled war-torn Myanmar only to drown when their boat sank in a river while crossing to Bangladesh have been recovered by Bangladeshi officials.

The Irrawaddy reports that 5he group had fled their villages in Myanmar’s Rakhine State, and their over-crowded small craft sank in the Naf River.

The government administrator of Bangladesh’s Teknaf border town, Adnan Chowdhury, said the boat was carrying Muslim Rohingya from Myanmar.

A local councillor, Abdus Salam, said, “The Rohingya people were fleeing (for) their lives from Myanmar.”
