A small plane came down in the Atlantic off one of Florida’s wealthiest coastal enclaves on Saturday morning as stunned beachgoers watched the plane crash-land just feet from
Daily Mail reports that the twin-engine Piper went into the water around two miles east of Boca Raton Airport at around 9:40 am, triggering an emergency response from the police, lifeguards and the US Coast Guard.
Incredibly, its sole occupant, a female pilot, escaped without injury.
She was pulled from the plane by Boca Raton Rescue before being transported to a local hospital as a precaution, according to authorities.
The shocking incident occurred in full view of people enjoying a sunny Saturday morning along Boca Raton’s beachfront, where witnesses described looking up to see the aircraft descending toward the ocean.
The aircraft had departed Page Field in Fort Myers and was supposed to be flying across the water to South Bimini Airport in the Bahamas.
Instead, the flight ended abruptly in the ocean off Boca Raton.
