So, I go pub crawling hoping to have an alone time on The Danny.
I first visit a bar owned by a Chinese and listen to some loud music while having my drink. Ending up having a couple of drinks, I decide to shift my base to an Ethiopian bar.
There the music is solemn. And I love it. Not until the owner comes.
The bar owner knowing I’m Nigerian approaches me asking what kind of music I will like. Not being a picky person, I reply any music is just OK.
They then suggest Afrobeats so that I will remember home.
That’s cool is my response.
They end up playing a series of Nigerian Afrobeats tracks by various artistes.
I end up buying more drinks while listening to the music.
Brooding over it later, I come to a conclusion:
Ijebu to j’eran l’oja,
ara wa ko.
Ijebu to ko petesi,
ara wa ni!
The Ijebu person who steals in the market place,
is not known to us.
The Ijebu person who builds a skyscraper,
is well known to us.
