Five Afghan refugees in Khalabat Township allegedly gang-raped a married Afghan woman, police said on Friday.
Dawn reports that the initial medical examination of the victim confirmed the offence.
The police quoted the 21-year-old victim as saying that her husband was abroad and she was living in a rented house in the Township on a valid Pakistani visa. She said she was on her way to an Afghan camp on foot when a young man overpowered her and dragged her into the fields, where he forcibly raped her. She told the police that she was about to leave when four accomplices of the man also sexually assaulted her one after the other.
She told the police that when she attempted to put up resistance. According to the police, the accused would be produced before the court of area magistrate for physical remand on Saturday.
