A large part of the Trump Administration’s national security policy includes the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

WKYT reports that anti-ICE protestors took to the streets in Downtown Lexington Sunday afternoon to express their disapproval of the immigration crackdown.

Dozens of voices turned into hundreds protesting against the ICE presence in Lexington and across the country since PresidentDonald Trump has taken office for the second time.

Natalie Padilla, a protester said, “People shouldn’t be walking around in fear or be scared to walk around anywhere.”

Protestors marched with a clear message:

“Wherever you try to kick us or they’re trying to put us in one bubble, we’re going to go,” protestor Andrea Marroquin said.

Protestors told WKYT they’re hoping to bring a message of unity out to the community of Lexington and to lawmakers.

US Representative Andy Barr, who represents much of central Ky., says he will continue to back immigration policies set forth by President Trump.

Barr said, “ICE is engaged in law enforcement operations to keep our country safe from criminals, people with ties to terrorists and individuals who have open and active investigations into them for criminal behaviour, including child rapists. So, the protesters hopefully, downtown are just mistaken on what they’re protesting.”
