Infradig! – Adewale Sobowale

We Nigerians are not in any way giving respect to those who should be respected. It might not be our fault, however. It could be because of the fact that certain things are strange to us. We are not used to them.

Take a look at some busy bodies heckling to know the remunerations of our undistinguished honourables. Pray, what’s anybody’s business about their take homes.

See, some idiots are even hollering that the freedom of information law gives them the right to ask and know. Was the bill not passed into law by the national assembly?

OK, they’ve forgotten it’s the Oyinbo that made the pencil who also made the eraser. Let’s tell them if they didn’t know, that’s why erasers are always attached to some pencils.

If their wahala is getting too much, we may decide to unmake the law. If we say the egungun masquerade of our father will dance and we decide to revoke the announcement, does any policeman have any right to arrest us?

Dem never born de police!

They won’t mind their business. Maybe it’s because government has announced that Nigeria is getting out of recession that they are having the time for all this nonsense.

It might even be because the executive is promising to increase the minimum wage. How foolish can people get?

Even if salaries are increased without improvement of basic amenities don’t they know they will be back, not to square one, but to minus square one.

Why?

What is the percentage of workers that are salary earners? What is the percentage of salary earners that are government workers?

The majority of workers are in the informal sector. When salaries are increased, prices will shoot up.

That will lead to hyperinflation!

Is that not going back to minus square one?

And see these yeye people o, they were the ones who asked to be bribed before electing us into the house. They also come to meet us when we go back to our constituencies asking for what we brought back to base.

It’s high time they realised we are business people. What’s the purpose of business? Is it not profit?

They are complaining that we are expensive. Are they not part of our expenses?

They were even shocked that we took delivery of brand new cars while the country was in recession. So they didn’t know that recession was only meant to affect the hoi polloi of society.

Tell them and let them hear, by the time we leave the house at the expiration of our tenure we will collect disengagement allowances.

Infra dignitatem!
