A grandmother wanted to be the next Miss Universe but her hopes were dashed in Argentina.
AP reports that the 60-year-old who wanted to create a record as the oldest Miss Universe saw her dream vanish like vapour at Buenos Aires last Saturday.
Alexandre Marisa Rodriguez is a hospital legal advisor. Her entry into the competition had been hailed as a triumph over ageism in a youth-obsessed world. Although she didn’t win, she tool home the title of “best face”, one of several pageant categories including best evening gown, best swimsuit and most elegant.
She thanked everyone who celebrated her success in the Miss Buenos Aires competition last month. He win there generated so much global frenzy which catapulted her from obscurity to local fame.
Rodriguez said, “As a result of what happened to me, I believe a new door has been opened for many people who perhaps did not have it easy. It was adventure and I had no expectation of this other than turning on a new challenge.”
