I’m hearing rumours that the government has reduced the price of rice by “50%” in Nigeria.
If the rumours are true, what are the implications?
Does it mean that the government knew all along that the prices of commodities were skyrocketing?
And it decided to do nothing!
So, how many trailer loads of rice will be sufficient for the populace?
What about other food items?
Some time ago, the governors from southern Nigeria met in Abeokuta and decided to take agriculture seriously. What has become of that talk?
I would have said they were only doing some beer parlour talk if I didn’t know they’d stopped going to Tombo joints after being elected.
If we can reduce the price of rice, let’s begin by decreasing the cost of other commodities, particularly petrol.
