I can remember there was a time an idea was being mooted that the south, especially the former western region should stop the consumption of meat products that came from northern Nigeria.
When that didn’t succeed, some then decided to implore people to avoid northerners’ meat for just a day.
No way!
It was as if those people were babalawos!
With various killings taking place in the south by the so-called cattle herders, our people are yet to see reason to frustrate the mallam simply by not buying their products.
I don’t think any of them will love it if he brings cows to the south and nobody buys what he’s selling.
What am I even saying?
What agricultural product do we not buy from the north.
Pepper!
Tomato!!
Fruits!!!
Vegetables!!!!
It’s even a miracle that the dreaded Boko Haram never thought of poisoning agricultural goods being transported to the south.
In effect, since the north is increasingly breeding terrorists, I very much believe the south needs to go back to the drawing table and fashion out a plan to frustrate the north economically.
Let’s see whether or not they’ll call the terrorists to other. Abi, what amount of beef can the north itself consume?
We can start by promoting the raising of African dwarf species which are common in Ogun West senatorial district. In fact, those ones are reputed to have much more meat content than the zebu species raised in the north.
We also need to plant our own food. There’s so much land begging to be cultivated.
We shouldn’t say because we want to eat beef and start calling mallam brother!
