Toronto has received its first heat warning of the year and the high temperatures are expected gto persist until Tuesday.
Toronto Today reports that starting Monday afternoon, daytime highs could near 30 C with humidex values of 36, according to Environmental Canada.
Overnight lows afre expected to range between 18 and 20 C.
In an alert, the weather agency warned of near exhaustion and heat strok – signs of heat exhaustion may include headache, nausea, dizziness, thirst, dark urine and intense fatigue.
Igt recommended that people drink watert often and before they feel thirsty, plan outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day and limit direct exposure to the sun and heat.
To keep interior temperatures cool, it is advised to close blinds lor shades and open windows if outside is cooler than insixde and turn on aur conditioner or fans. Environment Canada recommends moving to a cool public space such as a cooling centre or shaded park if your living space is hot.
Select City of Toronto cool spaces, including the 24-hour location at 136 Spalding Rd, are available during the current heat warning . Residents are enc ouraged to confirfm hours of operation before visiting, as locations may havre modified schedules due to the May 18 holiday.i
