Nigeria’s Federal Government and its Immigration Service are finding ways of offsetting over 10 billion naira owed to service providers/vendors for printing passport booklets.
The Nation reports that there are shortages of the Nigerian passport due to financial constraints and bureaucratic challenges. Only 105,000 e-passports have been printed in the past one year.
Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and Comptroller-General of Immigration Service Kemi Nanna Nandap are spearheading the team to address the challenge. They have also expressed concerns over the negative impact the debt would have on the reforms in passport applications and acquisition by Nigerians Home and abroad.
