I’m sure you know, my handsomest president, that I’m a so-called wailer with a reason. The reason is not so far fetched.
Personally, I’ve never forgiven you for torpedoing a democratically elected government in 1983. The Shagari government was definitely not the best. But Nigerians reelected the government. We could have learned from the elected government’s mistakes.
In any case, if the laundryman hadn’t done a good job, it wasn’t proper for a bedwetter to complain.
Events after the coup d’etat that brought you into power showed you never had any solid plans for our dear nation. That resulted in the malgovernance of your administration which could be described as a bull in a China shop.
So, thirty years later, when you maneuvered yourself into power, I really smelt a rat. I just couldn’t separate you from your dictatorial rule three decades earlier.
I’m glad my suspicions have been proved right.
But it’s not too late to make amends.
The first thing I would want you to do is to free all those who have no business being in detention. Sowore, Dasuki, El Zakzaky and others come to mind.
Second is for you to make provisions for Nigerians to live decently. I know this is within your powers.
Let them have light, good roads, water, security and employment. You could also let us have some accountability so that nobody will have any cause to accuse your administration of tampering with the commonwealth.
I promise that if you can do that, the people your administration has termed as wailers will become hailers of your administration.
Although I know you’re a Muslim, I do wish you a very merry Christmas and, of course, a fantastic new year with a condition!
