The Nigerian authorities seem to be getting it right by nominating General Christopher Gwabin Musa for the post of Defence Minister.

He retired as the Chief of Defence Staff in October this year.

He appeared before the Nigertan Senate on December 3, and every senator who contributed spoke well of him.

While answering the questions asked of him by the senators, he spoke of having a unified national data, the power of service chiefs, the responsibility of everyone, good governance, poverty, illiteracy, legal system (cases dragging), people having a sense of belonging, the Sahel, tracking of ransom paid(if at all), banning illegal mining and he agreed that every Nigerian is a victim.

But given the fact that he was in the army when a brigadier of the Nigerian army was kidnapped, when various kidnappings and killings took place, only time could tell whether he would be a square peg in a square hole.
