A Yoruba proverb says if Dada can’t fight, he has a brother who is a heavyweight.
So it is for Africa that has been writhing in agony due to the US President Donald Trump’s MAGA plan.
Under the plan, many expatriates are being deported, tariffs are being introduced, and the American president has stopped some aid-granting institutions from giving aid.
Personally, I don’t have any problem with Mr Trump’s activities. The reasons are not far fetched.
He was elected democratically. If American voters, in their wisdom, have chosen to elect a Frankenstein, why should it be the business of anyone, particularly a foreigner?
However, it’s my belief that other nations should act by trading the authorities in the US back in their own coins.
Another Yoruba proverb says we don’t have the right to tell a kid not to become a leper if he can live a lonely life in the forest.
I’m so happy that the Namibian President Dr Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has summoned the courage to deport 500 Americans under the “no visa, no stay” policy.
How I wish other African leaders could quit hiding behind the gowns of their wives and act now!
