God’s kingdom – Adewale Sobowale

The Bible says, “..the kingdom of God requires violence, and violent people have been raiding it.” (Mat. 11:12)

I wasn’t surprised when I saw videos of a combined team of security forces including the police, army and the DSS blocking the major routes of the Free Nnamdi Kanu protest in Abuja yesterday. The incumbent has worked his way to the presidency and is not ready for any protest, no matter how peaceful it may be, to disturb his enjoyment of the perks of office.

Meanwhile, the ordinary man on the street is hungry!

How  many years must Kabu stay in prison custody? When I insist Nigeria is a quasi-democracy, how else can it be proved?

I would have expected a true democratic state to have been up to the task in its justice system. But, I guess the incumbent wants Kanu to stay with him until his term expires.

Now to the protest, were the protesters violent? Don’t they have the right to protest?

For a government that pardoned what seems to be a countless number of criminals, I would have thought setting Kanu free would have been a matter of course. But then, is the government a listening one?

In a so-called democracy where a government is bargaining with terrorists, what can be more ridiculous?

The authorities should not fret about a possible Gen Z protest because Nigeria is united by a tenuous rope of tribalism, elitism and corruption.

For how long can the government continue using its paraphernalia of violence to suppress the voice of the people?
