It’s another anniversary of the first secondary grammar school in Nigeria. We should congratulate the Anglican missionaries who deemed it fit to set up the school.
However, the school song interests me a lot. Most particularly, the phrase in the very first line of the last stanza which reads:
Africa will surely rise!
That phrase is very apt. It is futuristic. Has Africa risen?
Against all odds, why has Africa not risen?
Don’t tell me it is the Europeans’ fault. We are our own nemesis!
