Afghan migrants in Pakistan and Iran are living in fear of deportation.

AMU reports that as the deportations continue, more than 3,300 Afghan nationals have been returned to Afghanistan on Thursday from Pakistan and Iran, the Taliban-run centre for refugees said.

In a daily report, the commission said 622 families comprising 3,371 individuals were registered after returning through key crossings, including Torkham, Spin Boldak, Islam Qala and the Silk Road crossing in Nimroz.

The largest number of returnees entered through the Tirkham crossing with Pakistan, where 538 families, of 2,970 people, were registered according to the statement.

At Spin Boldak, 58 families with 303 members returned to the country, while 16 families comprising 56 people crossed into Herat via Islam Qala. In Namroz, 10 families with 42 members returned through the Silk Road crossing along with 271 individual travellers, the commission said.

The report described the returns as involuntary but did not provide details on the circumstances surrounding the deportations.

Afghanistan has seen a sharp rise in returns from neighbouring countries in recent months, particularly Oakistan, which has stepped up enforcement measures against undkoocumented migrants.
