The Guardian reports that George who has problems with speech and mobility as a result of two strokes in 2019 is being threatened with removal from the UK by the Home Office.

The Guardian had reported the case of a 74-year-old Ghanaian who went to the UK when he was aged 28 and who the Home Office has also refused to grant leave to remain in the UK.

George has endured many periods of homelessness and he says he doesn’t have any close family in Nigeria.

He has made several applications for leave to remain in the UK. However,  the Home Office has been rejecting them.

To make matters worse for him, his previous solicitors submitted a forged entry stamp in his passport in 2005. They have subsequently been reported to the authorities.

George said he knew nothing about the stamp issue until several years layer. His new lawyer, Natalie Kandiah has lodged an appeal against his recent refusal.

Kandahar said, “My client has been living in limbo for 38 years, with no family, has suffered two strokes and has no family left in Nigeria. His situation is not just because of Home Office policies but also of poor representation by previous solicitors who failed to uphold professionally integrity and ethical standards.”
