Legislation to declare Rwanda safe is likely to pass through parliament and the British authorities are full of hope that this will allow the first flights to take off.
However, Charities supporting migrants are planning to launch legal challenges “as quickly as possible” against the movement if the law is passed in the coming days.
Charity Care-Calais said it had recruited hundreds of volunteers to identify people who are set to be removed to Rwanda. It will assist them with legal support and assist them to stay in the UK.
The government can’t wait to fly asylum seekers to Rwanda before the general election. Although the Supreme Court blocked an earlier plan in November, the government has come up with a legislation declaring Rwanda a safe country and it will pass Parliament soon.
It is not impossible that the legislation will be challenged in court.
The government believes other countries will be willing to take asylum seekers from Britain if the Rwanda plan works.
However, the Labour Party has said it would scrap the scheme if it comes to power.
