74 migrants found on the Mediterranean Sea!

Seventy-four migrants were found on a wooden boat in the Mediterranean Sea between north Africa and south Europe.

The CTV reports that they have been transported to Crete.

Crete has recently seen an increase in migrant arrivals from Libya. However, the government has promised to address the issue with more funding and extra Coast Guard personnel.

The boat was found on Sunday night.

The port of departure and the countries the passengers were from were yet to be discovered. Since no injuries or illnesses were reported, they were taken to a temporary shelter.

Greece is a significant entry point into the European Union for people fleeing conflict and poverty in the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

The influence is putting a lot of stress on the authorities in Gavdos, which is 27 nautical miles south of Crete. Crete’s southern coastline has witnessed an increase in migrant arrivals. In most cases, the migrants had crossed the Mediterranean from the eastern Libyan port of Tobruk.
