The location of a peasant organizer and former UP Diliman student-leader Faye Margarette Tallow remains unconfirmed.
Philippine Collegian reports that she was forcibly taken in a raid by troops of the 16th Infantry Battalion on Thursday in her home in Brgy, Malibago, Camarines North, according to human rights group Karapatan Bikol.
She wa subsequently detained for over 24 hours in an unnamed military camp, where she was served her warrant of arrest, according to barangay officials in a message to Karapatan’s quick response team. The address on the warrant was Lopez, Quezon, some 80 kilometres from Labo.
But instead of her turning up to the Lopez Municipal Police Station, a police investigator from Labo mentioned that Tallow had been transferred to the Gumaca PNP station, another 20 kilometres away from Lopez.
In the Lopez station’s logbook, Labo’s police went to Lopez together with members of the Philippine National Police Special action Force, Philippine Navy, and 201st Infantry Brigade officer Johnatan Vender.
Meanwhile, the abductors identity as military personnel was confirmed by Labo’s municipal government, Karapatan’s quick response team said on Sunday.
Faye Margarette Tallow was a BA Broadcast Communication student of UP Dillman. She was also the 2016-2017 chairperson of the Student Alliance for the Advancement of Democratic Rights UP College of Mass Communication.
Tallow’s abduction is now the 16th case of enforced disappearance under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration, according to Karapatan’s count.
