It’s like Nigerian politicians do not have any love of their country at heart. If they do, they wouldn’t be turning the country into an object of ridicule amongst the committee of nations.
Pray, what percentage of time in a year do they have for the busy schedule of administering the country. It’s either one intrigue today or another tomorrow.
But let the truth be told, if it’s Nigeria’s lot to be left behind, the world will move on.
While some economies are operating 24/7, Nigeria is yet to even be at the starting point. Oh yes, there are economies where trains and buses are running throughout the day.
In the case of Nigeria, do we even have roads? Do we have an effective railway system?
Do we have light? Water? Are our mineral resources being tapped to their most economic level?
Let’s come to the issue of governance, why are the rulers of the South Western states pretending they are progressives.
OK, maybe we could refer to them as progressively reducing the status of the common man.
Many of them have embarked on road projects. Great, ain’t it?
Except that most of those roads have uncovered drains. They believe anything will do for the poor people.
Let’s ask about their outputs in other sectors like education, health, etc.
Then on the national level, there is relatively hardly any meaningful governance going on. It’s only one intrigue or the other.
Today it’s a minister being accused of a forged certificate, tomorrow it’s some senators decamping from one party to the other.
And the people continue to cheer them on. Do they have a choice? In the ensuing horse trading lies their means of livelihood. That’s why Nigeria is one of the countries with professional politicians.
Nigerians, we should put our thinking caps on because these people have shown they don’t have our interests in their hearts. They only have selfish interests.
A people will always deserve its leadership!
